There’s a lot of mermaid inspiration floating around at the moment
{pun indeed intended}.. and we love it. We love it beyond the 'trend' of it, if you will.
Don’t you also love it? For the feeling of freedom, of beauty, ~ & of a mythology that connects
many countries around the world.. and that is always a beautiful thing, we think; connection.
Since as far back as 1000 b.c, when the first known mermaid stories are said to have been told;
we’ve been fascinated, ~ & inspired by those legendary creatures.
Those first stories, from Assyria, told people about the goddess Atargatis, who transformed
herself into a mermaid, out of shame for accidentally killing her human lover.
Imagine the big eyes of the children then. Some things are just beautifully eternal.
We happily lent out some details from the series of accessories out of our upcoming LW s/s14 line,
~ to the shoot for swedish brand Fira’s spring & summer ’14 collection, mermaid life, shot back in september.
Featured are e.g. our own favorites; the vintage shell bracelets from Papua, that we told you about before,
~ that can be worn as a regular bracelet; dangling from the wrist,
or pulled up on the arm {staying there perfectly until you pull it down. Papua perfection.}
There’s also a sample we’ve made, a necklace out of bone, the birds of a feather ..
.. & the big necklace, or wall piece; white warrior..
So if a mermaid is one who fights for love.. we wanna be one.
Even if its just in wearing little reminders out of bone, horn or shell. Small reminders
to go with our everyday attire of denim & simple, watery shirts or airy knits.
Come swim with us, lovelies ! And have yourself a beautiful & inspired new week..
with love,
the warriors
